How to add mods to ARK server

Since ARK's release of its mod API, mod developers have been publishing their own modded content on the Steam workshop for all of the community to use and enjoy. Here at VILAYER, all of our ARK servers support the use of mods available on the Steam workshop. Please take into account that when using mods, we cannot guarantee their functionality or be at blame for any issues they may cause (data loss, crashes, etc.). We've done our best to write up a detailed article to help you through the process of setting it up on your own, it's not too hard! :)

  1. Open Steam, and navigate to the ARK workshop. Find a mod you'd like to use on your server.
  2. At the end of the link shown in the workshop listing, there is a number value. Copy this number value down. See the image below. If you can't see the URL, you'll need to enable it in your Steam settings.
  4. Log into our game control panel panel.
  5. Open the configuration files in your control panel.
  6. Add the modID to your config using the add mod button.
  7. Connect to your server via an FTP client, we recommend using FileZilla.
  8. Navigate to your own computer's ARK mods folder. This is located in SteamApps/common/ARK Survival Evolved/ShooterGame/Content/Mods.
  9. You will see a folder and a .mod file for each ID. Upload both for each mod you'd like to use. You will want to create a "Mods" folder on your server in the same location (ShooterGame/Content/Mods).
  10. Confirm that all mod files are present on your server.
